Membership of the AEUP is subject to an annual membership fee, based on the number of publications (ISBN/ISSN) published by the member press in the calendar year preceding the year of membership.
The benefits are extraordinary and are summarised as follows:
- Increase visibility of our presses through joint stands at book fairs and shared catalogues.
- Share knowledge through training programmes and workshops.
- Support new presses – establishing professional and best practices along with exchanging internship programmes.
- Collaboration on publishing projects such as co-publications and translations.
- Open access issues (Including OApen access) – best practice information sharing.
Additional benefits of the Association include:
- Sharing knowledge within Europe.
- Establishing the idea of UP's.
- Enhancing the image and the standards of UP publishing.
- Exchanging practical and commercial advantages (for example discounts, joint stands on book fairs, joint advertising) via a Wiki on the AEUP website.
- Possibility to build ad hoc coalitions with a varying group of member presses on certain topics (for example Open Access, eBook consortiums like OSO Oxford Scholarship Online).
- Monitoring EU Policy and voice opinions to Brussels.
- Information on distribution channels per country.
- Information on funding for translations per country.
- Author contract models: even if they are country specific they have some basic fields that should be covered: for example: what is a contract, what should be inside, royalties, author copies, discount for author copies, open access, specific terms (copyright).
- EBooks – formats, pricing, releases, distributions, market, selling.
