Heriberto Rodriquez-Martinez
(Born in Spain 1950). Educated veterinarian in Montevideo, Uruguay (1975), where he acted as veterinary officer and as university teacher (Associate professor in histology and embryology, Medical School, Montevideo (1976-1979). Following PhD studies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) Uppsala, Sweden 1983, he moved as Assistant Professor to the University of lllinois, USA, 1984 to return to Sweden in 1985 as Associate Professor in Histology and Embryology, SLU (1985-1991). Became Full Professor (Reproductive biotechnology) at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (now Division of Reproduction), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, SLU, Uppsala in 1991, a position still maintained.
Main advisor and co-advisor of more than 50 post-graduates. Author of more than 300 original articles, he is also Editor-in-Chief of "Reproduction in Domestic Animals" (Wiley-Blackwell) since 2000. Area of research: reproductive health, biotechnology, andrology and gamete interactions. Particular interest in spermatology and sperm-tubal interactions in domestic animals as well as in the loss of fertilizing capacity of cryopreserved spermatozoa.
