The Body In Balance: A Physio-philosophical View Of Life

Burr (2006)

The aim of this book is to categorize and quantify the different qualities that are the essential requirements for life, but in a new way using process rather than a systems based approach. The study of life is more intriguing than fiction and here the reader should find some interesting ideas not found elsewhere. This is not intended to be a comprehensive textbook, but one that adopts a lateral approach to the subject and fills in important gaps.

This is yet another undergraduate textbook on basic biomedical science, the principal focus of which is human physiology.

However, the format of the knowledge is innovative.  I have attempted to integrate important insights regarding measurement and include as much clinical relevance as possible. Diagrams are aimed to be intuitive and are included without explanatory legends in order to encourage deeper thought of their relevance to the main body of the text.

For all of you who are students in this field, I hope this work will stimulate thought, help understanding, be a useful reference and aid revision.
